up, Up, UP!

Hello, hello! Just got back after a week down South for Jacob's surprise 30th!
Daddy mixed in a little business before pleasure, and after flying into Charlotte and hanging with Phalen and Finn - brought the family down to check out future home Greenville, SC if this BMW thing goes through - ha.
Back up to Waxhaw to see the 'tuhzzins' Elsie and Charlie before heading down to Savannah for a night to put some South in yer Mouth at Paula Deen's Lady & Sons. Up past Hilton Head the next day and on to beautiful Beaufort before the final destination Isle of Palms just North of Charleston.
Michelle totally pulled it off - got both brothers/families, Mom & Tim and most of the Streitmarters to congregate in a rental house to surprise the pants off Jakey!
The weather could have been a little more hospitable, but we got some beach-exploration/kite-flying/site-seeing time in (we hit up WildFlour!) as it started to clear up - and we'd been joined by the entire Koster clan as well to really round out the party. Sing-alongs, billiards, Hold'em, air hockey, Bananagrams and some real good company in a sweet house made for a pretty nice long weekend - with the disappointing 1st annual Schomp/Streitmarter football result tempered by the Sooper Saints win Sunday night.
We followed up some not-quite tearful goodbyes on Monday morning with a detour through Columbia - discovering the heart of the Confederacy in Mo's BBQ and picking up some coeds on the USC campus with help from the kids on the way back to Charlotte for the flight home.
Tweaked my back trying to wear out Evelyn during the needlessly long airport wait - and then thankfully both kiddos got hit by the zonk fairy and slept most of the way to Boston.
Woke up to tears this morning with Evelyn asking for her tuzzhins - but napped like a champ to make up for such an eventful week on the road!
