It's called a Dilemna

Margot is out tutoring the SAT-Challenged this morning leaving Daddy in charge again - and this is what happens. Maybe it occurs all the time and it just goes unreported on Mommy's watch, but of course Evelyn refused to nap this morning and preferred to prevent CBS Sunday Morning viewing again for the umpteenth time in a row.
So she's eating (cut) grapes while I make her a quesadilla for lunch - she clears her tray and isn't yelling for more, just staring out at and through me - strange. I turn around to flip the 'dilla and she's out. Do I wake her before Margot gets back?!?!?!

So while we wait - I mentioned last week how Evelyn was rearranging and hiding stuff on us, but it's clear now that she's actually trying to organize. She sorts, stacks and cleans up - she may be bit with the same neat-freak bug that plagues her mother I'm afraid to say..

But it looks like Evie's imagination is taking off too. She's always pretended to talk on the phone and feed me empty bottles like I was a hamster, but now she's doing some real creative crap. Like scooping magic pollen out of the plastic flower on her Excersaucer and rubbing it on our shoulders the last two days. Man-oh-man do we wish we could see what her little brain is thinking

And because I know you all are curious: yes, more winter weather this week - but no complaints here: another half-foot of snow and then some single digit days - but it stayed that way. Perfect - and now the blustery thaw comes. Well done Mother Nature, that's how we like it.

Evelyn was invited to a Valentine's Day party with her Melrose Munchkin friends Saturday (yes, we're the Maldonian baby-party crashers) and I was greatful that she pretty-much ignored all the boys until she got the bunch of balloons she hi-jacked tangled with another and made out with both of them - good girl. I'm sure it was nice for the kids, but the party was more of an opportunity for all the mothers to force the fathers into this new social circle. Oh boy, here we go!
And now Margot is hosting a play-date Monday, so I went around and spackled up the chipping lead-paint baseboards so as not to offend these new acquaintences (they are all slumming it driving down to Malden as it is). Kind of funny that I'd wait so long to do this - is it because I am more concerned for these other babies than I am of Evelyn, or I just don't trust that my non-offspring would leave the chips alone? hmm..

So Margot got home in time to see Evelyn asleep at the wheel - she didn't flip out when she saw what I'd done, and Evie didn't freak when she awoke after a half-hour of napping. So I'd say I made the right call!
