Looking Fine in 0-9

After the Fog of Christmas cleared and Evelyn took stock of all the new loot she cleared in combination with her birthday, it's pretty evident that we need to get on some sort of stuffed animal/toy/book rotation - hide some for a while and then get the joy of rediscovery in a couple weeks. There's just too many great gifts that Evie doesn't appreciate yet when she spends half her waking hours obsessing over the refrigerator magnets!

So Daddy had to go to work down in Pennsylvania for a couple of the last days of the year to save the day once again - and the girls came along for a mini-vacation at the Bear Creek Ski Lodge! We packed the near-forgotten snowboards into the 5, loaded up the book on tape and hit the road. Evelyn's gotten to be an even better road-warrior with her front-facing aptly-named Britax Marathon - no extra stops beyond the gas/Cracker Barrel pit-stop each way! We got the only remaining room with such late notice - slope side King Suite with fireplace and jacuzzi - rough - and the lodge offers cheap daycare service so Momma was planning on hitting the Spa too. Just our luck though - the day we could hit the slopes was 60 degrees and although they kept all the runsup and in decent shape all day - we decided to forego it. Too pricey for icey conditions flooded with Philly kids - we'll take our New England powder, thanks (if we can ever bring oursleves to abandon Evelyn that is..)

We got back in time for our New Years Evie SnowStorm (8 more inches) and dug out for the Dutch Oliebolen and Apelflop treats served up at Oma & Opa's, but I couldn't get downtown to meet up with Ben at the Badfish Bash later on with the Orange Line out of service. Probably just as well though - I didn't even last til midnight with the D-Clark/Carson/Seacrest trio - sucks being 30.

Evelyn's been a little cranky since New Years Day though - she's got a mammoth molar coming through so we're not holding it against her, but the Big News is that yes - all the decorations are packed up and down in the basement - you've got one week in this household people!

Actually the bigger news is that Evie has a new West Coast Future BFF - there's a new Yoder amongst us! Teri, Matt, Big Papi and the whole city of Seattle welcomed Farrow Amelia to the world at 12:34 am on the 29th - sharing a B-Day with her mom. We're still awaiting test results to make sure it's not Dave Matthews' kid - I never trusted Teri down at that gym with creepy Dave lurking around.. But congratulations either way - Happy New Baby, Happy New Year!
