Like a Bull in a China Shop
Evelyn leaves a swath of destruction behind her that not even FEMA could contend with. Pulling down pots and pans, tugging on table cloths, electrical wires and cat tails, pushing DVD player buttons, re-arranging daddy's cd's, infiltrating the porn stash, whoa! - what?! Oh Boy - bad baby. She really needs to start understanding the word 'No' - and I need to build up the nerve to actually say it I guess..
Well we kept Evie up late last Saturday so she could hang out with the future offspring of Matt/Teri on their brief Boston stop-over from Iceland to Seattle, and then Sunday she went with Mama to Jess & Nathan's cookout where she got to play with some doggies while I was witnessing the dawn of the Cassell era with Ben in the Badfish box at Foxboro.
But since then, she's had a rough go of it - not quite her joyous self. Looks like she's cutting another set of teeth and hasn't given us a good night's rest in the last week. We'll put up with it for now I guess, but she'll may have to start sleeping in the garage unless she conforms to our Baby Sleep Guidelines that Evelyn verbally agreed to on record with a 'Bop-bop-baa, dai-da-duh, gzhh-guh-gaa' - the standard baby protocol. Check baby-babel-fish if you don't believe it..
Just kidding of course, but it has given us some good bonding time as we see who can stay up playing late the longest. Evelyn is jamming anything and everything that fits into her mouth to soothe the gums - but that's allowed us to move away from the typical baby-mush into real square meals! Margot likes spreading out some mini-meatballs with peas and carrots on Evie's tray and watching how she goes about tackling it. For the record, meat first then carrots and green stuff last - good girl. And she's got a hankering for some grilled cheeses too, and that means we've got crust duty. Whatever - it's a lot more palatble than licking the indecipherable colored mush spoons..
