So Long, Summer!

Those long September shadows portend yes, the end of Summer - so you better get in all those last backyard romps while you can. But they also foreshadow (get it?) the start of Fall and all the fun that brings - leaf piles, apple picking and a new seasonal Autumn Album for Evelyn.

And she's already got a snotty, runny nose this morning! We don't think it's related to the possibility that we might have had some frost Friday night (the radiators did kick on without incident) but maybe all the kids at Evie's friend Mallory's 1st birthday party on Saturday? Certainly it's not related to some European bug that Oma and Opa brought over from Holland - but yes!, Evelyn's grandparents are back in the States after galavanting around the North Sea sailing for the last three months. They had their big reunion with their darling granddaughter yesterday - and it's pretty remarkable to think what a transformation she's gone through since then. The chubby baby ball that they left has metamorphosized into a long lean baby girl - but she still recognized those friendly faces!
And in related news, Evelyn had her nine month checkup on Friday - and has regained ground on height - off the charts again, but slipped all the way down to 78th percentile on weight, and wait for it.... 90th% on head diameter! And also head related - Margot took Evelyn to NeuroScientist in Training classes again this week to do studies on brain activity. She sat through 100 images and got a framed picture as a reward with her wearing the brain-wave monitor. I'm not going to show it now because it's a leading contender for our Christmas Card - but she looks like she's wearing a Doc Brown contraption with this vapid look on her face - classic Evie!
