Shaggy No More

What a weekend - from snowing to raking in a week - so much for the Ides of March huh? There's still one tiny little patch of snow left by the trash can, but we got all the winter refuse cleaned up and I even let Evelyn take part in the Malden Easter Egg hunt. Yes, too early for Easter and we weren't looking for eggs either - maybe it's closer to a St Patty's Leprechaun Treasure hunt. It happens every year when the snows of winter and rains of spring uncover new treasures once buried in the back yard - and the glinting reflections of the bright sun catches your eye in so many colors: green, brown and clear!
Yes - I'm talking glass, and fortunately there actually wasn't too much this year. All the clearing the past three years has finally paid off as it looks like Evelyn will be spending a lot of time back there digging around in the broken-bottle-free-dirt. And hopefully the lawn will finally be up to snuff after all the heartache and suffering it has wrought. The 4yr rehab plan seems to be working, and Evelyn will not have to tolerate crab grass!

We took advantage of the weather and took back-to-back hikes in the Fells Saturday and Sunday - fun, but boy is Evelyn getting heavy in that backpack! She had her 15 month checkup Friday and came in at almost 26lbs and 33 inches tall - still right on track for greatness. She's also showing signs of intelligent life - she knows her nose and seems to legitimately converse back and forth with you, but she doesn't seem to have an indoor voice yet - it's either whispering or booming. And this morning she just twirled around in circles, got dizzy and bounced around and fell down. Her first natural high - we're hoping she doesn't turn out to be a stoner like her momma..
And check it out - daddy trimmed the Shaggy Dog. Maybe a little boy-like, but that's what you get when you refuse to wear your berets!
