Home Alone

Well I jinxed it - this last week was definitely not Summer-like. Fortunately, this weekend has made up for it - gorgeous.  And that's made it perfect for Daddy to finally have his very first weekend all alone with his baby-girl after 1-1/2 yrs!  That's right - Margot has abandoned us to pal around with Sharon and Blythe down in NYC - living it up as best as a 2nd-trimester prego can..
And the beautiful weather has opened up many outdoor activity possibilities, so Evelyn doesn't seem to miss Momma too much as a result.

So after we dropped Margot off at the bus depot early Saturday, we continued over to South Boston and walked around Pleasant Bay and Castle Island with Evie mixing it up with all the local Southie doggies and BOB'd mommies.  She absoultely refused to get back in the car after a couple hrs (even though we were food/drink/diaperless - ha! good one dad..), so we hung out at the park for a while sustained by a girls' lemonade stand.  And all of a sudden, an AA meeting broke out with all these people setting up lawnchairs and what-not.  Sound-system equipped, we were all able to hear every last heart-wrenching detail - and complete with Southie-accent it was straight out of a movie, no lie.  And Evelyn would break out in a celebratory cheer whenever the crowd started clapping as a new alcoholic was introduced - classic.

Played in the yard most of the afternoon, and hopped on the bike to have a little pic-a-nic over at Fellsmere Pond, but stopped at Wes' house on the way where Evelyn met Pluto the Meow-Meow and fed her chicken.
I don't know what will terrify Margot more - letting Evelyn get real close with a cat or Wes, but no real harm done.  I was able to talk Wes out of borrowing the little cutie to go trawling downtown, but he did come over later on to work on his car, throw back a few and watch a little hockey.  That should sufficiently prevent Margot from ever letting Evelyn out of her sight again, but she slept fine through the night without any issues (the baby, not necessarily Mommy..)

We're going to try taking the T down into the city this afternoon when nappy-time is done and hang out on the Common and Esplanade until the Bolt bus arrives.  But so-far, so-good flying solo (hope I don't jinx that one!)
